Looking for MY Professions :) Help? Please?
Hi everyone. I was looking to start a new char and was wondering which profession to choose. Since the in-game thing doesn't really help you I was wondering if you could help me with a first AND secondary profession .
*Keep in mind I am talking about Prochecies so please dont suggest anything that I can't do . I am looking for: A melee type of character. LOTS of damage(meaning taking out mobs and doing well in PvP). Able to kill enemies quickly(wheter it in PvP or mobs). I also wouldn't mind a combination that takes some skill but once got the skill it dominates if you know what I mean :P. *I am mostly looking for a FUN combination* Thanks and this would really help . |

Prochecies + A melee type of character.
Your gonna have to go Warrior for that. As far as combinations, you will be able to switch them so it really doesn't matter to much |

Following the criteria you posted, Warrior would be the choice.

A Warrior is the only choice for a melee character, unless you went ranger/warrior to take advantage of Expertise. Still. Warrior it is.

for prophocies warrior it is. I wouldnt suggest ranger becasue they are far to underpowered and are quite lackluster. So yea as a warrior you can tank in alot of situations. But, the problem is usually fun+lots of damadge dont go hand in hand. Usually you are goign to be spamming(100b,searing flames, Assassin's promise, SoS, etc). So unless pressing buttons over and over is really fun.. you will have to make your own build that you find interesting.. tho it probably wont be as efficeant.

You can check out the Campfire section's sub forums to read up on Warrior and the ups and downs of each secondary with that profession. http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/w...t10326347.html
While some of the information in the thread might be more than you need to know at this moment in time, keep it bookmarked to go back over in the future when you are more familiar with the game. And my personal opinion is warrior is great. My main character is a warrior and is closing in on her 26th title.

Warrior is the ultimate choice for Melee in PvE PERIOD.
They are masters of all melee weapons. They are not as enchantment dependent with a scythe as other classes, and running dagger spammer on a warrior has slightly less damage than a sin but can make up for it with superior survivability. Also, as a warrior, you will always have access to "Save Yourselves!", which is one of the most powerful skills in PvE, something which other professions may not. In regards to choosing your secondary, my theory is that you should choose the secondary that will most easily allow you to defeat your doppleganger to ascend. Once you do this, you can always change your secondary at a whim. As far as suggestions, I am not very sure. Necromancer is usually the best secondary to beat the doppleganger with but can be difficult to do with warrior due to having only 2 pips of energy regen. I however beat my doppleganger at level 5 with my W/N, but it was no easy task. |

Other than that one thing, rangers aren't very awesome. But I still play as one because I'm a masochist. |

Ranger is my primary and with apologies to Roen, yes the Ranger is awesome. But I also play Warrior and for melee it has no competition.

1. When you first start a character, and particularly a Warrior, it really doesn't matter what your secondary is. Warriors are based around Adrenaline and have a very small energy pool and low energy regen, so at first you should be concentrating on mostly Warrior skills and builds. Later on in the game, you can change your secondary to whatever floats your boat. 2. There is no PvP during PvE, so there's no need to be concerned about doing damage in both PvE and PvP (you won't meet up with other players to fight against during PvE). You can make a specific PvP-only character if you want to do PvP. |
